The subtitle says so much more : The Food of a Younger Land: A Portrait of American Food--Before the National Highway System, Before Chain Restaurants, and Before Frozen Food, When the Nation's Food Was Seasonal .Interesting collection of WPA essays about regional foods- I loved the chowder arguments and how even in 193x people here were moaning about how no one does a 'real' clambake anymore.
