OK Hamish MacBeth mystery. Not the best of the bunch, by far, but maybe when you get to #28 of a series, you're running out of juice, which is fair.

Death of a Valentine, by M.C. Beaton

Yay! A new Hamish MacBeth mystery! I do love these, and read it in one great gulp. Lochdubh's regulars are some of the best supporting casts in any of the cozies, right up there with Joan Hess's Maggody residents, and so funny. God, that would be so great if Maggody and Lochdubh could collide in some fictional world, I would love that.

Death of a Witch, by M.C. Beaton

Another fantastic Hamish MacBeth. Newcomer Catriona Beldame has been rumored to be selling the men of Lochdubh potions to increase their ... stamina, but when she is killed, Hamish has to look to the villagers to find the murderer.
I do love these, but I also wish Hamish would stop wavering between Elspeth and Priscilla.

Hamish Macbeth, Series One

TV series based on M.C. Beaton's Hamish Macbeth series of mysteries set in the small Scottish Highlands town of Lochdubh. I saw it on DVD, so I'm counting it as a movie.
It was weird, but pretty good, and god, the scenery is splendid.

Death of a Maid, by M.C. Beaton

Another Hamish Macbeth mystery. You know, I think I only half-read the actual plot, while drooling over the real-estate porn details- the thick stone walls, the storms rolling in over the lochs, the slabs of peat in the fire... Someone killed someone, and Hamish sorted it all out, but the
main appeal of these is the houses.

Death of a Celebrity, by M.C. Beaton

Fun, quick mystery. I love the Hamish MacBeth ones, but I can't stand the Agatha Raisins.
I love the Scotland setting so much, actually, that I've spent hours ogling Outer Hebrides real estate and looking at crofter's cottages all over bloody Scotland. More expensive than you'd think! Seems like it's about 30k pounds even for a crumbly lonely one with tons of repairs to be done. Well a girl can dream.
