Re-read. One of my all time favorite books. Very different from the (equally wonderful) Cary Grant /Irene Dunn movie of the same name (based on the book). I love this book beyond words.

I love this book too! So much so that, after I blogged about it recently on "Typo of the Day for Librarians" (see http://librarytypos.blogspot.com/search?q=hous), I decided to see what else I could find by Eric Hodgins. Apparently, there's a sequel called Blanding's Way, which I haven't read yet. But I did read Episode (about his stroke in the early 1960s) and am now thoroughly enjoying his posthumously published autobiography, called A Trolley to the Moon. One minor correction: Mrs. B. was played by Myrna Loy in the movie, not Irene Dunne.
